How I spent less than $300 for a flight to Paris summer 2022

Ever desired to take a solo trip or one with someone special, but traveling on a budget is what you are dealing with?
I am here to share my travel hacks and what that really means.
I have been travel hacking now for nearly three years and it has served me well. These photos were taken around France and my flight cost less than $300.00 during May which isn’t tourist season, but it also not inexpensive either.
Since the cost of flights have proportionately increased these last few years, the demand for travel has too.
I bet you are asking how in the world did you book airfare for less than $300? Well, if there is a will there is a way and I am here to share that with you. It’s really no secret and can be done and so many are flying on points these days.
Well, many don’t understand it but you can actually travel inexpensively on credit cards. The education around credit cards in the United States is a bit convoluted as right out of college they teach you to get a credit card. The point of a credit card is not to run up a balance and not pay it off.
This is where it will get you into credit trouble. The key to owning a credit card, yes can be used in case of financial emergency but financial literacy behind owning a credit card is a key piece of information that is not usually taught.
When I open credit cards I know I must meet the minimum spend (MS) to earn the points that will essentially be translated into flights or hotels or other things. You can choose what you want to buy with these points, but the most valuable advice I was given was save points for flights.
I booked a roundtrip ticket to France three weeks before April 2022 for May 2022 solely on points. I used points to cover a few of the hotels I stayed in too.
As a beginner my favorite card to start out with and what the pros will recommend is the Chase Sapphire Preferred (CSP for short) (or Reserve card). The cards you continue to open will depend on your monthly income, due to the fact you have to meet the MS to earn the points bonuses.
For example, when I opened my CSP card the bonus for opening the card and spending $4,000 in four months was 80,000 points, it currently is less than that and can change at any given time.
To give you an idea for a flight to France I transferred my CSP points to Air France as they were having a bonus transfer sale. If you transferred 1,000 points, you actually got 1,500 worth of points, so for less than 50,000 points I was able to book a round trip flight in economy on Air France three weeks out in 2022.
I booked a trip to Greece for two for 42,000 points for August 2023 (yes coming up real soon), and this was also done on Air France, so traveling on the cheap can be done, you just have to learn the rules.
That is why I am here to share these travel tips and there are many groups and others I have connected with in real life that do the same.
Where are you going next? Did you sign up for the CSP?
If not you can do so here and your wallet will thank you.
Please note I do earn points, by you clicking on any of the links for credit cards on my website and I appreciate your support as this helps me travel to destinations that support my retreat business and my passion for travel.
