Cape Cod and some sea-foodie fanfare

Ever go to Cape Cod, Massachusetts or wanted to? Well, I hadn’t been to Cape Cod, Ma, since I was a young child, so I had to visit since I was visiting family in New England.

I just returned from an awesome two days on the Cape and I was able to do all the things I wanted. Eat seafood, use my blow up paddle board on the bay and eat some more seafood, Not to forget I did take some time to lay by the pool and relax a bit.

For anyone that knows me, relaxing is definitely not my speciality, but sometimes you have to sit back and do just that, relax. I have high energy and always on the go, although many times I sit down in silence and rock a Netflix movie or series, as again sitting still it not my specialty.

I drove up and stayed the night in Hyannis, MA. I booked a hotel fairly last minute in July and since I was only staying one night and mid week,  a reservationmay have made it a bit easier.

I wanted to be near a place I was going to visit as I heard so much about and it actually is quite a special place.  I made sure I was able to go to this specific jewelry art gallery and I was able to do so.  I then made my way to this amazing beach as seen below, seeing as I now live in a land locked state, visiting the beach is one of my favorite things to do. I was able to go to two of the highly recommended beaches which included Mayflower beach and Chapin beach.

Chapin beach was the beach I took this photo at.  After 4:00pm parking is free and there were maybe thirty people left on the beach, which for me was perfect.

I snapped some photos, collected some seashells, dipped in the water and then decided to check out Mayflower beach up the road, as I heard it to be one of the top beaches in the area.  I realized I made a bit of a mistake by doing this as it was still flooded with people and not peaceful, so I didn’t stay very long, as I wanted more of something quieter like the first beach I was at. I figured after hours things would be calmer, but everyone being on vacation made for a busier beach. Either way both beaches had beautiful calm and clear waters, which I didn’t remember as a child.

Next up I ventured to the Chatham lighthouse at dusk and snapped some photos. One of which was quite shocking to see as I kept hearing about how prevalent sharks were in the area. Then I continued onto Mac’s Chatham Fish and lobster and the line was out the door. This is when I knew I made a good choice.  I ordered gluten free fried clam strips, a salad and seafood chowder which were all fantastic. This long line out the door explained why locals and others keep returning for repeat visits as the food was so fresh and tasty. I wish it wasn’t a thirty minute drive from where I was staying or I would have returned the next day, but I had other sights I wanted to see, including paddle boarding locally.

I found an amazing spot to paddle board the next day and enjoyed my time on the bay. Just beware of the diving seagulls or random crabs floating by in the water, don’t get nipped by a random crab as that is their home, not yours. The diving seagulls were enjoying an afternoon snack on the inside of the shells, be it mollusks or clams.
